SmallRig 28mm Waist-Level External Optical Viewfinder 6127 combines vintage leather-style detailing with a high-transmittance optical system to bring a classic waist-level viewing experience to modern cameras. Designed to shift composition from direct eye-level framing to a more observational waist-level approach, it offers a more discreet and deliberate way to shoot. 

Its 28mm full-frame-equivalent field of view, combined with built-in 35mm and 50mm bright frame lines, covers focal lengths commonly used in street and documentary photography. Whether used for street scenes or low-angle composition, it allows for more relaxed, deliberate framing while drawing less attention from the subject, recreating the classic top-down viewing experience associated with Hasselblad and Rolleiflex cameras.

The viewfinder features a precision 4-element optical design, paired with a Fresnel lens and multi-layer nano AR coating. With total light transmittance of up to 85% and distortion controlled within ±15%, it provides a bright, clear optical view with no visible color fringing, helping preserve the direct visual character of optical composition.

Its innovative one-touch opening hood features a magnetic design and combines the protective cover and hood in a single structure. In one quick motion, it opens with a crisp click that signals the start of shooting. In bright conditions, it helps suppress stray light interference, while during storage it protects the optical elements, balancing practicality with visual appeal.

Note:

1. Close-Range Parallax: The minimum viewing distance is 0.5m (1.6ft). At distances within 2.0m (6.6ft), the actual captured image will appear slightly lower than the framed view seen through the viewfinder. Compose slightly higher to compensate.

2. Viewing Distance: A viewing distance of more than 0.4m (1.3ft) is recommended. If you wear glasses, position your eye as close as possible to the eyepiece to help minimize edge vignetting.

3. Composition Guide: Built-in 35mm and 50mm guide frames are included. Because even slight tilt becomes more noticeable at 28mm, keep the camera level to help reduce perspective distortion.

4. Optical Characteristics: This product exhibits approximately 12% barrel distortion, which is a normal physical characteristic of an ultra-wide optical design.

5. Care Instructions: The optical surfaces feature a nano coating. Do not wipe the lens dry or use rough cloths. Do not aim the eyepiece toward strong sunlight for extended periods, as concentrated heat may cause damage to the equipment.
